SEO - Link Building with Guest Blog Articles

Description

The most valuable form of LinkBuilding are backlinks from high ranking websites.  These are websites with much more traffic and influence than a Business Listing Tactic and require a monumental effort of outreach to sites with an active blog and building relationships of trust that the guest blogs written would be high value to the receiving site.  Please make sure you read file-icon-page.pngSEO - Link Building first.

Link Building with Guest Blog Articles is a labor intensive process and a service many SEOs simply call 'Link Building'.  Beware, most SEOs that provide 'link building' or 'backlink strategies' are really selling snake oil. They generate 1,000s of backlinks in comments sections across 1,000s of non-valuable websites.  In reality, the only backlinks of significant value come from rare opportunities (usually from PR efforts) to get a backlink on a business interest story, or possibly by contributing some sort of knowledge in Wikipedia.  These are effective when performed internally as they usually require some type of key relationship or deep knowledge as an expert in their field.  Secondarily, backlinks from business listings are shown to improve a website's pagerank.

When to Recommend

  • Clients should already have the low-hanging SEO tactics in place - 360 Plan, Listing Management, fast website, content already optimized.
  • Links have been exchanged with partners and there are no more link exchange opportunities.
  • All other link building tactics have been implemented in article: file-icon-page.pngSEO - Link Building
  • LinkBuilding with Guest Blog articles is expensive because it is so labor intensive and should be recommended to clients who have large SEO budgets (at least $4500/mo) and value investment for a long term return on investment.

By now you should realize that this service should only be considered after all other Link Building strategies have been implemented.

How it Works

The Logistics for Link Building:

  1. Build a list of candidate websites. Each website must have a relevant topic to the target site, generate an ideal amount of traffic, have a Domain Rating that is higher than the target website - (ideally no lower than 40), and a healthy balance between native blog articles and guest blog articles.
  2. Build a contact list - now that you have a list of candidate websites you need to find out how to reach the editors, authors, and decision makers of these websites not easy.  The generic emails: info@ and webmaster@ are usually ignored - so time must be spent looking for parent organizations or backlinks  author mentioning their article on social media and LinkedIn.
  3. Email Drip Engineering - drip campaigns (either automated or manual) must be created to get the attention of the website owners and editors.  At the same time this must be closely monitored, we want to ensure our outgoing emails do not result in the people we are reaching out to flag us as a gross spammer.
  4. Negotiation - When we do get a response we must determine a win-win scenario and ensure a quick delivery.
  5. Copywriting - the guest blog article bust be written as quickly as possible (completed and delivered within 24 hours is preferred). We have learned that if a blog is not provided within 24 hours it is 40% less likely to be published.  That jumps to 70% less likely if providing within 3 days.

Interesting Link Building facts:

  • When link build prospecting - 90% of possible sites are disqualified because of too low organic traffic and/or too low DA
  • Follow-up with site to ensure article is published and link is kept.
