The Registration Process
The registration is divided into two main phases: Brand Registration (verifying who you are) and Campaign Registration (verifying what you are sending).
1. Information Torchlight Requires From You
To begin, you must provide official business documentation. Discrepancies between your submission and IRS records are the #1 cause of registration failure.
- Legal Business Name: This must exactly match your tax filings (e.g., "Acme Corp, LLC" instead of just "Acme").
- Tax ID (EIN): A valid US Employer Identification Number is required. You should have your CP 575 EIN Confirmation Letter ready for reference.
- Business Address: Must be a physical location registered with your EIN.
- Authorized Representative: A name, title, and business email address for a verified employee.
- Active Website: Carriers will manually review your website to ensure it is functional and contains a clear Privacy Policy.
2. Opt-In and Compliance Requirements
Carriers require proof of how your customers "opt-in" to receive messages. You cannot send texts to a list of numbers unless those individuals have explicitly agreed to be contacted via SMS.
Common Opt-In Methods:
- Web Form: A checkbox on your contact form that says, "I agree to receive SMS messages from [Brand Name] at the number provided. Message and data rates may apply."
- Keyword: A prompt such as "Text 'START' to [Your Number] to receive updates."
- Verbal/Written: Documented consent given during a phone call or on a physical sign-up sheet.
Timeline and Expectations
